All our cablers are ACMA-registered (as required by law in Australia for any fixed telecommunications wiring), and we terminate to Australian and international standards (AS/CA S008, ANSI/TIA-568). Every job is tested with a proper cable certifier and labelled at both ends — no dodgy shortcuts, no untraceable spaghetti behind your rack.

For new home builds and renovations across Newcastle, Port Stephens and Lake Macquarie, we strongly recommend installing Cat6 (or Cat6A for future-proofing) to every bedroom, living area and TV point during the pre-plaster stage — it's cheap to do at that stage and near-impossible to retrofit cleanly later.

Do I really need cabled internet if my Wi-Fi is fine?

For basic browsing, no. For work-from-home Zoom calls, 4K streaming, gaming, or any camera/security system, a wired connection is dramatically more reliable and lower latency. Wi-Fi also gets congested — hardwiring your fixed devices frees up the wireless spectrum for phones and tablets.

Cat6 vs Cat6A — which should I install?

Cat6 supports 1 Gbps and is fine for 95% of homes today. Cat6A supports 10 Gbps and is properly shielded — worth the extra $40–$60 per point if you're building new or want the cable to still be relevant in 10+ years.

Is data cabling licensed work?

Yes. All fixed telecommunications cabling in Australia must be installed by an ACMA-registered cabler. It's not a task for a general handyman or DIY. All our cablers are registered and issue TCA1 records where required.

Can you install data points in an existing brick house?

In most cases yes — we run cables through the roof space and drop down internal walls, or use skirting/architrave routes. Some brick-veneer or double-brick homes are trickier and may need surface conduit in short sections.

Do you supply the switch/router/hardware?

We can, and we usually recommend TP-Link Omada, Ubiquiti UniFi or Cisco kit depending on scale. If you've already bought your own hardware we're happy to install and configure it.

How do you cable a two-storey home?

Typically we run cables up through an internal wall cavity or a wardrobe, then out through the ceiling to each upper room. In many cases we drop cables from the roof space to upstairs rooms and up through the underfloor for downstairs.

Can data cabling do PoE for security cameras?

Yes. Cat6 and Cat6A both support Power over Ethernet (PoE and PoE+), meaning you can run a single cable to a CCTV camera, wireless access point or VoIP phone and deliver both data and power over the same run.

How long does an install take?

Single points typically 1–2 hours. A 4–6 point install with basic patch panel takes half a day. A full office fitout with 20+ points and a rack is usually 1–2 days depending on cable path complexity.
